5 people dead after eating dog meat at an eatery

5 people have  been confirmed dead at Woji, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, after eating dog meat from a popular Inn in the area.

The deaths have caused tension in the area as people have begun to question went people have died after eating dog meat alleged to have been cooked by one Friday Dickson, popularly called Etiaba.

Reports gathered that Etiaba owns an Inn that specializes in only dog meat in Mini-Woji Road and has owned it for a very long time.

A witness said the death of these 5 people shortly after eating the dog meat prompted an emergency meeting by the council of chiefs and elders, with a view to locating other members of the community who also ate the dog meat from the same Inn.
He said Etiaba fled the area after he learnt of the death of the 5 people.

President Muhammadu Buhari is likely to keep the oil portfolio for himself in the new Nigerian cabinet, rather than trust anyone else with the source of most of Nigeria's revenue and traditional fount of corruption, associates say.

Nigeria’s oil sector is so dirty that nobody’s hands are clean enough to do the “surgical changes” needed, one long-standing associate told Reuters on condition of anonymity because the cabinet decision is still under wraps.

Another political associate said: “He will do it. It would be stupid to give that position to anyone else.”

The first source said Buhari has still not settled on his cabinet and has laughed off media speculation about figures he will appoint, joking with friends as he read out a newspaper article that mentioned possible names: "They have picked my ministers for me! Have I even told you who I want?"

Some immediate past ministers must go to prison, Gbagi tells Buhari

ABUJA- FORMER Minister of State for Education, Kenneth Gbagi yesterday accused some immediate past ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria massively enriched themselves while in office, asking President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that they go to prison after probing them.

According to him, the kind of money in the hands of some persons in Nigeria was enough to plung the country into war in the next ten years, adding that the money must be returned by these persons for the provision of infrastructure.

Speaking with Vanguard, Gbagi who urged President Buhari not to spare any rod in his anti- corruption crusade, stressed that the President must be decisive if he must succeed in taking Nigeria to the promised land.

According to him, some very powerful ministers did not have respect for the nation’s local currency as they operated throughout in office in dollars, thereby turning the country into a dollar economy, adding that two powerful ministers in the immediate past Administration must go to prison and be made to return the over 100 trillion tax payers money stocked away in other countries, institutions and agencies.

In a statement issued yesterday, Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Alhaji Ibrahim Muazu said, “The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) would like to inform the general public of the chronology of events that led the Management of the CBN to handover some unscrupulous staff to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for prosecution.

“During a routine internal audit of the Bank’s Cash Destruction activities in September 2014, the CBN Briquetting Panel comprising Senior Bank Staff from different branches noticed some anomalies at the Ibadan Branch, and immediately reported this to the Bank’s Management.

EFCC grills Nyako for 10 hours over alleged N15bn money laundering

Admiral Murtala NyakoABUJA— Embattled former governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako, yesterday, surrendered to anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, where he was quizzed for more than 10 hours over allegation of money laundering running into N15 billion.

Nyako voluntarily returned to the country following the exit of President Goodluck Jonathan. Nyako had before now blamed his travails in the hands of security and anti-graft agencies on the former President, whom he accused of persecuting him for saying that he (Jonathan) committed genocide against the North-East in the name of fighting Boko Haram.
Vanguard learnt that Nyako, who returned from self-exile on Saturday, was at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja where he was detained and quizzed for over 10 hours, yesterday.

Kidnappers den in Ibadan uncovered, fake currency notes, cars found

The police in Oyo state yesterday June 1st uncovered a shrine where fake currencies(pounds, euros, dollars) are produced in Isase, Ojoku, in Ona Ara Local Government Area of the state. The state commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina while taking pressmen on an inspection of the area, said the den was discovered through intelligence gathering. Fake currencies, including Euros, Pounds, Dollars as well as fetish things(charms, statues, cowries) were discovered in the place. Also cars including two Toyota Camry and a Nissan Almera were discovered at the shrine.

Shortly after assuming office, President Muhammadu Buhari is already making plans towards defeating Boko Haram.
ThisDay reports that Buhari on Monday met with the outgoing National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki at the Defence House in Abuja on issues pertaining to security and the Boko Haram insurgency.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu reportedly stated that Buhari will be visiting Niger on Wednesday, and would proceed to Chad on Thursday, and that the trip will assist the administration in exploring ways of curtailing the activities of the Boko Haram sect.

China has never screened the six movies in the Star Wars saga before, although the most populated country on the planet has seen some of the movies in theaters before. Nevertheless, the very first ever official screening of all six movies will take place later this year in Shanghai.

In the six years that GEJ held sway, there are lots to talk about, positively or negatively, as many Nigerians showed at the March 28 polls where he was voted out. Many are not happy with the situation in the country where poverty, unemployment, insecurity, decaying infrastructure, crime, corruption and untold suffering has been the order of the day.

The president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, was pictured onboard a British Airways flight on May 28, Thursday.

Buhari was returning from the UK to Nigeria for the Friday inauguration.

Interestingly, the president-elect was spotted in the economy class. The photo immediately went viral.

This comes just after the APC politician reportedly declined to make use of the Rolls Royce and other facilities provided for him upon his arrival in London. His move touched Nigerians. People were calling Buhari a humble man, a good leader, who is close to his nation in thoughts and in actions.
