This kayaker lived to paddle another day after he had a very near miss with a humpback whale.
Norwegian adventurer Berthold Hinrichs collided with the 20-tonne whale during a trip to Gyllefjord at Senja.
The brave man felt his vessel begin to edge upwards and suddenly saw the huge beast rear up in front of him.
With professional ease, he steered his canoe to the left and avoided being capsized.
While most people would either frantically paddle for shore, or stop to get over the shock, Hinrichs then carried on as if nothing had happened.
He told the BBC he felt the water rise up, before realising he was perched on the whale's back.
It is thought the whale was surfacing for air and it may have been attracted by the huge numbers of herring in the lake.
