BREAKING: Gunmen Rain Gunfire On Plateau Community (Updated)

Another attack happened this morning in Plateau State as some unknown gunmen attacked Rim and areas of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State
Sources say that everyone from the area right now is on the run from the attackers. One Emmanuel who resides in the affected area said during a phone interview with journalist at about 8:00 a.m that: “the sounds of the gun shots are ongoing as I speak with you.  For now we are not sure of how many people are killed. We are calling for assistance of security agents to come to our aid.”
‪The resident said the gunshots started in the late hours on Tuesday night and continued all night.

UPDATE: The Plateau police spokesperson, Felicia Anslem, confirmed the incident.
She said 9 people were killed in the attack and many houses burnt to ashes.

However resident from the area disagree saying that at least 16 people were killed and about 200 houses were burnt down.

Plateau State House of Assembly member representing Riyom, Daniel Dem said that the continuous death of his villagers is very sad especially as the Special Task Force, STF is based there for over five years.

He said: “It is surprising that the attacks are taking place in villages where there is presence of security men, particularly members of the STF. Why are they not going after the attackers,”.

The Lawmaker also confirmed that about 16 people lost their lives.
Witness of the Rim attack, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that some of the attackers wore military uniforms.

 “Some of the attackers were in soldier uniforms; they were shooting and burning houses. When the shooting persisted we had to run for our lives,” a witness said.

Journalists learnt that 9 out of the 16 victims of the Rim attack were members of a family; the family of one Moses Guduma, who is said to have lost his wives, 4 children, his mother, father, and grandmother.
