How Nigeria Army Engage Boko Haram Insurgents in Borno Village

How Nigeria Army Engage Boko Haram Insurgents in Borno Village
Nigeria security forces battled suspected Boko Haram fighters, at Alafa Village, a strategic town close to Bama, Borno State, on December 29, 2013, Sunday.
The operation took place in the same area, where an attack on a military barracks occurred about two weeks ago.
According to Thisday, the military engaged the insurgents who swarmed the village in large numbers with sophisticated weapons and armoury, including armoured personnel carriers (APC), mounted with anti-aircraft guns , after being dislodged from Bama and other towns in which they previously launched failed attacks.
A military source further revealed that the insurgents, who had some foreign assistance, were successfully repelled by the Nigerian military. The Army was supported from the air following the deployment of Alfa Air Force jets from Adamawa State.

“Those guys [insurgents] entered Alafa village Sunday morning, but were caught in a surprise military attack and air bombardment.
“The Boko Haram men, many of them came with APCs mounted with sophisticated anti-aircraft guns. However, Alfa jets from Adamawa arrived to support the ground forces.
“What we are witnessing now is that the terrorists have acquired more sophisticated weapons, as they are no longer using riffles but anti-aircraft guns.
“However, special forces have also been deployed from different parts of the country to Borno for some surgical and highly specialised operations,” the source said.
Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, the Director of Defence Information (DDI), said that weekend’s battle was a part of the ongoing offensive against the insurgents who month had attacked some military locations including Bama Barracks and the Nigerian Air Force Base, Maiduguri within the last month.

“There was intensive fighting yesterday but initiated by our own forces in ground and air operations on the terrorist location spotted at Alafa about 21 kilometres from Bama. It is part of ongoing efforts in search of the terrorists as guided by intelligence.
“The operation was able to inflict vital heavy casualties on the insurgents in that location. Necessary air and land bombardments are continuing in similar locations,” Olukolade stated.
The DDI also confirmed that the mission in the North-East involves specially trained forces.
Maj.-Gen. Olukolade pointed out that the latest posting and redeployment of senior officers was meant to achieve the desired targets of operations in the North-East and other areas of the country that are facing internal insurrections.

A recent video done by SaharaReporters staff shows a number of property allegedly belonging to Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience.
The President is an indigene of the state currently governed by Henry Dickson.
It will be recalled that in 2007, the future President declared his assets worth ₦295,304,420 Naira ($8,569,662 USD). It is also worth noting that in 2006, his wife had been investigated on money laundering allegations. Although she was never found guilty or convicted of any wrongdoing, she was investigated by an anti-corruption committee for having had allegedly laundered more than $13 million. The evidence wasn't strong enough for a conviction.

Doctors at the Duke University Medical Center didn't check the compatibility before starting the surgery. After a rare second transplant operation to attempt to rectify the error, she suffered brain damage and complications that subsequently hastened her death.

How Sex Tape Scandal Moved Me Up – Chidinma Narrates

How Sex Tape Scandal Moved Me Up – Chidinma Narrates

Kora award winner and Ex Project Fame winner, Chidinma Ekile, revealed in a recent interview to Punch how she has been able to manage the recent controversies surrounding her.
Read the abstracts from the interview below:
About the sex video:
I woke up one morning and I was greeted on the internet with ‘Chidinma and sex tape’. I was worried primarily because of my mother. I didn’t let her see the video but I had to show her the photos. I didn’t want to go out that day. I couldn’t go out. But my mum felt otherwise. She told me to ignore the mischief makers.
I almost took some actions but I thought against it. I met Sound Sultan on a set. He told me, ‘Babe, you are now a star. I welcome you officially into the industry.’ I trended for three days. Even people who didn’t know me got to know me. My fan base grew. And then, I was happy because more than 90 per cent of the public didn’t believe I was the one in that video.
There were people who didn’t need to see the video to believe I couldn’t have done such thing.
I am just grateful to everyone who didn’t believe the story. My twitter account was hacked and the people created another account. They kept releasing nasty pictures and they were even responding to the tweets as if I was the one doing it. I was just watching and laughing. It put me in the spotlight. I used it for good.

Charles Novia names the Best 5 Nollywood Actresses of 2013

Written by Nollywood film maker, Charles Novia

I watched a number of films this year and as many as were being churned out in all the zones, I had to pin-point my search to specifics. As a filmmaker, with many years of experience to my credit, I know good acting when I see it. Acting is inborn while talent is general but depth in acting is few among actors. And so, my blog has decided to award and possibly reward actors with citations and accolades for their art in a preceding and current year. I and my editorial staff think this will be a good and unbiased reward system. I drew up my conclusions about the names on this list after watching them in stand-out roles in some movies released in late 2012 to the last quarter of 2013. I consulted a few of my colleagues about my list; tested film directors and there was an unanimity on 70% of the criteria I used in arriving at my conclusion. They all agreed with me 100% on the choice for the Number One Actress in 2013.
So, here are the Best 5 Nollywood Actresses in 2013.
