Goodluck-jonathan-NL
In less than 24 hours, the regime of President Goodluck Jonathan will be done and dusted with the elected one, Muhammadu Buhari sworn in to take the reigns of power for the next four years.
That will also signify the end of the power control by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the All Progressive Congress (APC), will control the center for the first time since the advent of the fourth republic.

In the six years that GEJ held sway, there are lots to talk about, positively or negatively, as many Nigerians showed at the March 28 polls where he was voted out. Many are not happy with the situation in the country where poverty, unemployment, insecurity, decaying infrastructure, crime, corruption and untold suffering has been the order of the day.

For his supporters, the President did his best and are quick to point out the reforms in agriculture, education, railway and other achievements they can count.

But on Curious mind today, we want you to tell us what it is that you would remember President Goodluck Jonathan for?

Operating As A 'David' Amidst An Industry Of Goliaths: 3 Timeless Principles To Sustain Success

Everybody loves a good underdog story. Well, most everyone—everybody except the “goliath” of the pair.

Of the many fears that plague industry leaders, it’s the rise of the unknown competitor that resides up there at the top with going out of business (of course, there may be a direct relation between the two).

The underdog companies are the ones to watch out for because they offer a completely new and revolutionary product that–almost instantly–has the potential to propel them from the bottom of the D list to the top of the A list. Under Armour is one example, as it takes on Nike. The performance company has been around less than 20 years (since 1996) yet their growth rate has remained steadily increasing since their inception. Prior to Under Armour, Nike was the one shaking up the competitive landscape and they did so for, again, roughly 20 years.

Kokori: Buhari must start his administration by jailing thieves

Human rights activist, Chief Frank Kokori, says the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, should start his administration by prosecuting and jailing looters as soon as he's sworn in on May 29.

Kokori, who is a former General Secretary of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, said this on Thursday.

The activist said by immediately prosecuting looters, Nigerians would have an idea of what the Buhari administration stands for and change would gradually set in. He said,

“You cannot change everything in four years but when Nigerians start seeing little changes in three to six months and then in one year and you see people being prosecuted and jailed for stealing public funds, and the government ensures that all the funds that were taken overseas are recovered, there is no way the needed change will not come.

Artist that appeared in Jay Z's video feels completely used by him

Marina Abramović, the famous performance artist who collaborated with Jay Z on his Picasso Baby video two years ago, says Jay Z completely used her and that she would never work with him again...

In an interview with Spike Magazine Marina said

"There was one reason I agreed to work with Jay Z that I can't talk about. I am very pissed by this, since he adapted my work only under one condition: That he would help my institute. Which he didn't."

"The day before, he came to my office and I gave him an entire power point presentation and said: okay, you can help me, because I really need help to build this thing. Then he just completely used me. And that wasn’t fair. This is very different from Lady Gaga, for example, who has done great work for me. Just by having 45 million followers, she brought all these young kids into my public."

"And in the end it was only a one-way transaction. I will never do it again, that I can say. Never. I was really naive in this kind of world. It was really new to me, and I had no idea that this would happen. It’s so cruel, it’s incredible. I will stay away from it for sure."

7 Steps To Obtain A Promotion

Reader’s Question: How can I position myself now, for a promotion in 18 to 24 months?

Lisa’s Answer: First of all, congratulations on thinking ahead and allowing yourself enough time to create a game plan to get you from where you are today, to where you’d like to be in the future!

Obtaining a promotion isn’t always easy, but if you’re willing to do some analysis, conduct some research and create a career development plan – then you’ll make getting that much-coveted promotion a lot easier. Here are the seven steps you’ll need to go through:

Step 1: Analyze your current performance. Doing so-so work won’t get you promoted. You’ll need to do outstanding work that will get you noticed by management. First, take a look at the results you’re achieving in your current job and make sure you’re meeting or exceeding all of your manager’s performance expectations. Then, look for ways you can go above and beyond the daily requirements to demonstrate how you add value to the organization.

Step 2: Seek to understand your manager’s goals. Find out what keeps your boss up at night. In other words, seek to understand your manager’s key objectives and priorities. Then, determine ways you can help him or her achieve these department goals.
