Two suspected fraudsters who specialize in Advanced Fee Fraud (commonly known as 419) have been arrested by the police in Lagos with a human skull and a large quantity of US dollars.

The suspects named Waliu Rabiu, a native of Ikire in Osun State, and Abba Pascal, a native of Ebonyi State, were arrested last weekend by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command, led by Police Superintendent Abba Kyari, Daily Independent reports.

Rabiu and Pascal, who belong to a six-man gang, were arrested after one of their victims, one Chidi Ebere, an electrical part dealer at Oshodi who was duped of N1 million, reported them to the police.

A human skull and a large sum of US dollars were recovered at the gang’s hideout, after a search conducted on the premises.
Confessing to the crime, Rabiu, a former barber, who is married, has a child and a pregnant wife, said it was hardship that pushed him into crime, adding that when he was introduced to the gang, he was told that he’d be selling Azonto herbal drinks.

"I was arrested because I was involved in 419 business. It is the person who owns the herbal business that is the 419 leader. The owner is dead but his brother Taofeek took over the business and 419. My job is to wait for victims and usher them in from the gate. I was never involved in negotiation so whatever the victims pay, I would not know, only that when I am going for the day, I usually receive between N4,000 and N10,000 from the leader," Rabiu said.

He denied knowing anything about the human skull, saying he has never seen it since he joined the gang because their leaders had a lot of secret.

He explained: "It’s not every part of the building we were allowed to enter and it was discovered in the ceiling."
Pascal, who also denied having knowledge of the human skull, said he gets between N5,000, N7,000, N3,000 and N10,000 at the close of work.
